Hello loyal fans of CHIKARA, gamers that love beat ‘em up style arcade classics and all of you wonderful spammers that inundate our inbox with comments to approve on our blog. We have a little blog here for you. We realize that we haven’t kept our promise to provide regular updates about Rudo Resurrection, but the fact is that the updates were more time consuming than we anticipated and they ended up being slightly disruptive to members of the team so early on in the process. We decided that we wanted them to use their time to work on the game and not have to prep marketing assets and write developer journals. Work on the game is moving forward even though we have hit our snags and technical issues, but we’re still forging ahead and hope to provide more information about when you might be able to get this game in your hands in the not-too-distant future™. Now on to the stuff you really want to know.
Previously we had announced four of the CHIKARA stars that would be playable characters in Rudo Resurrection but we know you all clamored for more. So as a token of our appreciation for your patience, we have decided to give you a nearly complete roster of all of the characters that will be playable. We may have a few surprises up our sleeves and there may be some cameos here and there that we’ll reveal later, but here is the confirmed list:
- Fire Ant
- Soldier Ant
- Green Ant
- Mike Quackenbush
- Jigsaw
- Eddie Kingston
- Hallowicked
- Frightmare
- Ophidian
- Amasis
- Dasher Hatfield
- Sugar Dunkerton
So there you have it. Let the debate begin. Is your favorite CHIKARA star listed? If not, who would you like to see as a playable character? You never know, they might just show up in the game in another fashion. And we still haven’t listed all the enemies you’ll be fighting, but that’s an update for another day, folks. Before we wrap this up, we had one more surprise for you. We’d like to share some of the concept art of three of the playable characters just like . The 3D models of these characters were modeled based off of these concepts and they will look very similar to what you see here. We hope you enjoy them.

…when all through the house
was the sound of clicking, the clicking of a mouse.
Rogue Brains employees were fully engrossed,
in an attempt to deliver a long overdue blog post.
The vegan treats were displayed on the table with care,
in hopes that UltraMantis would soon be there.
The children were sitting on the edge of their chairs,
screaming at the tops of their lungs for super snapmares.
And Stigma in his mask and Vin in his patchwork tights
brood as the Bitari prepare to issue their last rites.
When out from the curtain arose such a clatter,
the fans sprang from their seats to see what was the matter.
What to their wondering eyes should appear,
but the Osirian Portal as a Trio to begin the new year.
The BDK left a path of destruction in their wake,
while Jakob gave the CHIKArmy many a headache.
F.I.S.T. got a new member and had lots of fights,
but they’ll always and forever be friends in similar tights.
Death Haze has shown to be a formidable team,
while Bryce doing a top-rope dive was not just a golden dream.
Wiggly knocks it out of the park weekly on this Go-Go thing
while Mr. Loudspeaker’s voice booms from the center of the ring,
“Now Dasher! Now Sugar!
Now Brodie and Grizz!
On Colony! On Kingston!
On Quack and on Jig!”
Beating levels will add Tecnicos to your collection,
just you wait until you see Rudo Resurrection!
This poem has gone on way past its prime,
especially considering we can’t think of another rhyme.
(We apologize for the lack of communication,
be on the lookout for more updates in the new year!)

As many of you have noticed from the teaser that we released back at King of Trios weekend, several wrestlers from CHIKARA’s past will be returning for Rudo Resurrection. So far, the nine that we have discussed are:
-Jervis Cottonbelly
-Lance Steel
-Blind Rage
-Mister ZERO
-USApe
-Sumie Sakai
-Private Eye
-Worker Ant
-ShareCropper (left out of the trailer, but was shown in last weeks concept sketch)
One of the above may or may not be in the final version of the game, so for those of you that like to speculate, here’s your opportunity. Might another wrestler from CHIKARA’s past take the place of one of the above? If so, who will be removed and who will be added? With CHIKARA’s rich cast of characters, it could be anyone…
Speaking of speculation, there has been much of it regarding the shadowy figures that fill out the above image. As shown earlier in the trailer, The Order of the Neo Solar Temple have constructed a cloning chamber as seen below:
Not only have The Order of the Neo Solar Temple found a way to resurrect these “deceased” wrestlers, but they also found a way to clone them. Now this certainly spells trouble for the Tecnicos, but thankfully the Colony (Fire Ant, Soldier Ant and Green Ant) will not be alone in their fight. Joining them will be the patriarch of CHIKARA, Lightning Mike Quackenbush!

I know, I know what you’re all thinking, “Tell us something we don’t already know, or at least something that we can’t get on our own with a quick Google search!” We realize the news hasn’t been fast and furious yet but there is a reason for this; we are shrouding this project in secrecy. There are multiple reasons for doing so, the most important is that we really want to blow you away when do show you Rudo Resurrection. Here comes some more bad news: until we have a more polished game that is close to completion, we will not be showing it off. However, we do want to keep you in the loop and will be releasing information when the time is right. The production of a video game is much different than the booking a wrestling show. Most fans understand that a wrestling card is subject to change for a number of factors; injury, travel issues, miscommunication or someone could outright accept another booking without telling the other promoters. Whatever the reason, wrestling fans are usually very forgiving when it comes to changes in the card. Video Games on the other hand… well, the players aren’t quite as forgiving. If you promise feature X and feature Y and do not deliver them in the final version of the game, you typically get referred to as a liar and your integrity is called into question by the game playing community. We here at Rogue Brains have high hopes for this game and want to give you the best experience possible, so for now we will keep most of the features under our shroud of super secrecy. When we’ve locked them down and verified that they’ll be included we will absolutely let you know about them.
Now that we’ve given you a bit of insight into how we plan to release information about game mechanics, we will leave you with one little juicy tidbit of information. Below you will find a rough sketch of UltraMantis Black’s resurrected Dark Army. If you look hard enough, you will notice a ninth wrestler from CHIKARA’s past that was not included in the final version of the trailer. Even though he didn’t make the cut, he will be included in the game.

Next week, if things break right, we hope to have a little surprise for you. Check back next Thursday for more information. Thanks for reading!

This past week was a busy one for us here at Rogue Brains. Let’s run down all the happenings:
Due to some tremendous support from the fine folks at CHIKARA and from all of you, we’ve now surpassed the 20,000 view mark on YouTube. This is a huge milestone for us, especially considering that we didn’t anticipate nearly this many views. We have a lot of interest in what we’re doing and cannot wait to show the world more.
This past week, we were interviewed by a pretty well known gaming publication. We are not at liberty to discuss which magazine it is, but Rudo Resurrection will have a piece written about it that will see print in August 2010. As we get closer to the release, we will be sure to let you all know which magazine to look out for.
On Saturday, May 22nd Rogue Brains attended CHIKARA’s Aniversario Zehn in Tyngsboro, MA. It was the first time the entire crew was able to attend an event all at once and it was an absolute blast. CHIKARA puts on a first class show each and every time and this was no exception. We got to meet up with some of the wrestlers to discuss Rudo Resurrection, horror movies, wrestling and which video games we’re currently playing. A big thanks goes out to Mike Quackenbush, Ophidian, Pinkie, our good friends in the Order of the Neo Solar Temple and the rest of the roster for putting on a heck of a show.
Social Networking Update: We currently have 112 Fans on Facebook and 41 Followers on Twitter. Thank you all for adding us and keeping up with the development of this game, however we won’t be content until we are just as big as Justin Bieber (whoever he is) and we would like your help to continue to grow our fanbase. If you know someone that would be interested in what we’re doing, go ahead and suggest that they follow us on their favorite social network. We have a fan page on and we are RogueBrains on .
Since a few of you are rocking the desktop wallpaper from last week, we figured we’d give you another option to choose from. Here is another wallpaper of the great and devious UltraMantis Black. This image is of him performing an incantation to resurrect the wrestlers from CHIKARA’s past, taken directly from the Rudo Resurrection trailer.

“Look! It’s moving. It’s alive. It’s alive… It’s alive, it’s moving, it’s alive, it’s alive, it’s alive, it’s alive, IT’S ALIVE!”
Please, allow us to introduce ourselves. As you are probably more than aware by now, we are Rogue Brains. We are a newly formed creative collective that is hell bent on getting our creative, original, engaging, compelling content in front of the eyes of those that will appreciate it. It may be through Video Games, Comic Books, Music or other forms of media and most often than not, it will have a slightly demented twist to it.
Rogue Brains is indeed alive and kicking, emphasis on the kicking. We are still shaking the cobwebs out and getting used to our surrounding, but we wanted to take a few moments to drop our first blog on the world wide web. (does anyone even call it that anymore?) As most of you are aware by now, we are working on our first project entitled, Rudo Resurrection. We are incredibly excited to be working with CHIKARA Pro, and endeavor to deliver a top notch video game experience.
We will be dropping weekly updates to give you the dirt about what we’re working on and in addition to this introduction we wanted to leave you all with a new image to adorn your desktop. We know you’re all sick of having lolcats or your favorite pinup model wallpaper on your desktop, so go ahead and replace it with this dashing image of the Diabolical, Tyrannical, Totalitarian UltraMantis Black.

Finally we would like to thank everyone for their support. Since we unveiled the Rudo Resurrection trailer in front of a live audience at King of Trios, we have been absolutely blown away by the fan response. We never expected such a groundswell of support and it only further motivates us to make a top notch game for all of you to enjoy. At the time that this blog is being written, we are nearing the 20,000 view mark on YouTube for the teaser trailer. That is absolutely incredible! Once again, thank you so much for the support and we look forward to updating you on further developments regarding Rudo Resurrection and future projects here at Rogue Brains.
Since social networking is all the rage these days, we would be remiss if we didn’t utilize it, so feel free to us on Facebook or us on Twitter.
